Best known for his tireless devotion and enthusiasm for all things SUNY Cobleskill, Mark Finney ‘84 was recently honored with the College’s 2018 Outstanding Alumnus Award. In her tribute to Finney, President Terenzio shared all of our sentiments, referring to Mark, as “Coby’s Best Friend.”
If you have had the pleasure of meeting Mark, you know why: he truly is Coby’s best friend. His selfless spirit of giving and humor in the midst of adversity make him an inspiration. He represents the best of SUNY Cobleskill and shows us all the impact one person can have when they share their time, talents, and treasures with others. We are all inspired by the work of alumni like Mark.
In addition to volunteering at SUNY Cobleskill fair booths – where Mark estimates he has given more than 1,200 hours – he is also an active member of the SUNY Cobleskill Alumni Association. Mark has served as president, and is currently the secretary of the Board of Directors. His latest contribution to SUNY Cobleskill is as chair of SUNY Cobleskill’s annual fund.
The annual fund is one of the College’s most important resources; it supports initiatives in all areas of the College, and is a vital resource for needs that arise throughout the year. The annual fund also provides for equipment, program needs, campus initiatives, and unanticipated student emergencies.
In appreciation for Mark’s service, staff and alumni launched the Mark Finney Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will support students who are working to improve the overall well-being of the College – just as the scholarship’s namesake has done for the past 35 years. We hope Mark inspires you to join him as a friend to SUNY Cobleskill. Whether you contribute your time, give directly to our annual fund, or to scholarships like the Mark Finney Scholarship Fund, your gift is sure to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
