John Zacharek

Meet Vice President for Development John Zacharek

Vice President for Development John Zacharek arrived at SUNY Cobleskill in the fall of 2018, just in time for the Homecoming and Family Weekend, and Culinary Extravaganza Fundraiser. Both are signature events on campus, offering opportunities for alumni and the community-at-large to witness firsthand the growth, enthusiasm, and academic excellence at SUNY Cobleskill.

“It was perfect timing to arrive at SUNY Cobleskill and instantly experience Homecoming and Family Weekend, and then the Culinary Extravaganza,” says Zacharek. “If these events are any indication of the level of creativity and philanthropic spirit at the College, the future at SUNY Cobleskill is indeed very bright. I look forward to expanding our network of talented and accomplished alumni, and bringing new resources to the College so it can continue its upward trajectory.”

The latest addition to President Terenzio’s cabinet, Zacharek oversees institutional advancement, development, and alumni engagement. He works in close collaboration with the College’s Foundation Board, and the Alumni Association.

Zacharek served as executive director of development at Binghamton University, responsible for central programs for major gifts, regional development, athletics, planned giving, and corporate and foundation relations. His experience in higher education includes positions at SUNY Onondaga Community College, Syracuse University, and Upstate Medical University. Zacharek has managed multimillion-dollar capital campaigns, developed strategic planning initiatives, and organized numerous high-visibility fundraising events in more than 20 years in higher education.

“We are excited to have John on campus. It is clear our community is moving forward rapidly,” says President Terenzio. “We welcome John and look forward to working with him towards the future success of this wonderful institution.”
